ACR Performance And DIG Race Products Expand Partnership
Robbie Albreada of ACR Performance and Brandon Planck of DIG Race Products are excited to announce an expanded partnership heading into the 2019 racing season. ACR Performance is now New York’s Capital Region authorized distributor and service center for Dig Race Products shocks and race part working out of Clifton Park, NY.
ACR will also continue to service Fox and Bilstein shocks. Brandon and DIG will no longer be servicing Fox, Bilstein, or Integra shocks. Brandon’s primary focus is going to be on DIG shocks going forward, so when a DIG customer has non DIG shocks they will be referred to ACR for the repair/service.
Robbie and ACR’s main focus is to help sell and promote Dig Race Products shocks and car parts, but they want to be able to continue servicing other brands until the DIG shocks are widespread enough to be able to only deal with Dig shocks alone.
The other big thing that Robbie and Brandon offer that distinguishes them from other shock services is full car setup help. If you want some help, pointers or ideas for your car, or you are struggling with a certain area of the car or something, ACR and DIG can offer assistance and tips to help get you going better.
Robbie and Brandon now take us deeper into the details of the businesses and how the expanded partnership benefits drivers and teams across the Capital Region and beyond:
HOW IT ALL CAME TOGETHER:
Robbie [ ACR Performance ] : This came about when Brandon and DIG first launched their Pilot Series shocks. He had mentioned kind of jokingly that "hey pretty soon ACR will be a DIG service center" and we laughed about the future at that time. We then talked about it more seriously over the last few months to come up with a game plan to help grow DIG and ACR together.
Brandon [DIG Race Products ] Robbie’s response is spot on it really did start off as a joke that turned serious as the season went on. Being just myself and my Dad we can’t be in more than two places at once even though we try and travel and hit new tracks as much as we can. Robbie being in the capital region with Lebanon Valley, Albany Saratoga, Fonda and also with him occasionally traveling to Glen Ridge will allow Dig to have a voice and presence more often.
WHAT THEY OFFER :
Robbie [ ACR ] : The services and products that we are offering are full shock sales and service, car setup support and tips, DIG Race Products car parts sales and installation assistance. The unique and superior aspect that we can offer is LOCAL service and help, which means NO waiting for corporate sales people to get back to you. We are planning on providing a one week turnaround so that the racer can break shock on a Saturday night and have it fixed and returned for next Saturday’s racing.
The big advantage to Dig's Pilot Series Shocks is the quality and consistency. Brandon's attention to detail and craftsmanship is second to none. We have both worked on a lot of different shocks and these are by far the best built and consistent that I have ever seen. The dyno testing and research DIG has done proves these points, no fade and no issues with a shock's dyno numbers changing after a few races like we have seen with other brands.
I have experience from being with Andy Bachetti as full time crew chief for years and now doing my thing with LJ Lombardo and Frankie Harper as well as Chris Curtis and those guys. I think working together on shock ideas is going to be huge.
I also bring my sales experience being in the car business for 4 years now. I have my Bachelor's degree in marketing from UConn so I am going to try to help Brandon promote and sell and get people on board as much as possible
Brandon [DIG] : I appreciate Robbie’s compliment on the Pilot Series shocks in response to this question. There has been a lot of effort in our R&D and design so I hope everyone else can see that as well.
One thing that it seems like I preach to guys is that this product line is “more than just shocks”. They are designed specifically for NE dirt modified racing and the tech support that comes with them is the same way.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THE ACR / DIG PARTNERSHIP :
Robbie [ACR]: I think our sport and the Capital Region can benefit from DIG and ACR simply from having local assistance. Too many of the places that make shocks and parts are huge companies that have lost their touch when it comes to customer service. Our big thing is consistent customer service, and also that our primary focus is Northeast Dirt Modifieds.
Many other companies make parts and shocks for all sorts of cars, and I think sometimes that takes away from the Northeast Mod drivers. Unofrtunaltey these other companies overlook the Northeast Mods and we often take a back burner to the Late Models and Sprint Cars because of the bigger names and sponsors.
Brandon [DIG] : The state of modified racing is in a pretty unique position right now. With the crate sportsman classes inflating along with other touring series like Brett Deyo’s STSS North and South series growing I think the ability to deliver calibrations and set up help to a diverse crowd is needed more than ever.
One thing that we have stood by since DIG’s creation is that there is no magic shock package or set up, but instead a process to find what works best for drivers personally. We are lucky enough to work with a bunch of guys that race with different packages and combinations so it has allowed us to develop baseline shock calibrations and set ups that are dependent on Track, Class, Tire Brand and Compound, Chassis Brand, and Body (Sail Panels or Windows). It can be a little much when we ask so many questions to guys switching to our shocks, but I think it’s worth it.
THE ‘18 SEASON LEADING INTO THE ‘19 SEASON :
Robbie: I have learned a lot from 2018, especially becoming more involved with DIG Race Products. The partnership has showed me some things that I had never really thought of or considered before, and I think that I have also showed Brandon a few things here or there that he may not have known before. I think ACR and DIG working together on certain things will really help expand each others knowledge even more.
I also have to give a shout out to Pete Chuckta from PMC Race Cars. I have known Pete since I was a little kid when my father owned PMC cars for Andy Bachetti, and over the last few years Pete and I have worked together on ideas for his cars and he has also taught me a lot over the years about the Modifieds. I'm really excited to continue to work with him and PMC as a whole.
I also need to thank Chris Curtis and his family for helping me get ACR up and running last year. I plan on continuing to help Chris again in 2019. ACR would not be possible without them.
Brandon [DIG] : The learning process seems to never stop but it’s encouraging to be able to continue to grow the business and meet new customers and people in the industry. I’m excited about expanding our product line in the off season and start the formal connections to guys like Robbie and ACR.
Growing up with my Dad Dale Planck as driver, racing has shown me the highs and lows of the sport. Now that we work side by side with one another I feel like we share the same understanding that every customer’s situation and expectations are different. Sometime it’s a simple case of helping an already established and successful team get a little better and sometimes we’re climbing in to the trenches with a team that is struggling to find speed. Regardless of the situation we have a lot of pride in trying to help teams out and be a small part of their success when it comes. I think maintaining this mentality for years to come is important and with Robbie’s years of experience in racing and being a crew chief it’s something that he understands as well which is great.
This partnership with ACR Performance is one of the first important steps in getting DIG Race Products more than just one outlet to have access to information about our parts and services provided. Other locations we have in progress will be through David VanHorn of Vahlco Wheels who will continue to race himself along with selling DKM race cars, Jerry Higbie with HFC who has a great customer base that we work closely with already, and Canadian small block stand out Luke Whittaker to be able to cater to some of our Canadian customers for service and repair as well.
Brandon [DIG] : We have said from the start that we’re only as good as the people we surround ourselves with so I’m looking forward to the 2019 season and working with this crew of sharp guys.
