Sportsman Modified driver and Lebanon Valley Speedway track announcer Marty Kelly reflects on last week's race at Devil's Bowl Speedway race in West Haven, VT.
You know what's wild? The racing world is indeed a stage, and suddenly I am part of the show?
I used to go to Devil's Bowl every Sunday, and this month I have made three starts there.
I stood on the track side of the fence and signed autographs, in the same way that I used to go and get them from drivers.
In three days I am scheduled to make my first start at Albany-Saratoga Speedway at Brett Hearn's Big Show 9. I have been at every one of those races since the fourth one. I stood in line at the autograph session for an hour. I will not be able to do that this year.
I used to watch Kenny Tremont race, and last week I went side by side with the 115, and watched him pass me.
Later this season I am scheduled to make my first start at Lebanon Valley Speedway, where I have been watching guys do it for 18 years.
I used to watch DIRTcar Sportsman races. In April I was in one.
