Highs and Lows in Connor Hill's Season Opener

BLUE CORD MEDIA /CP RACING  SELINSGROVE, PA - The sun was out and it was a beautiful day at Selinsgrove Raceway Park in Selinsgrove, PA for The Burris Money Series' 2017 lid lifter.  Connor was excited to get back to racing, still riding high from his basketball team, The St. Peter's Golden Eagles winning the Orange County Parachial School League Boys Varsity Championship. Connor was looking to keep winning heading into the 2017 kart season.

Selinsgrove Raceway Park is a beautifully appointed kart track that sits in the infield at Selinsgrove Speedway, and the track most often raced on The Burris Money Series.  While a great place to race, in 2016 it was the most difficult track for the 98H team to solve.

Connor started the day off with multiple practice sessions where he felt the Marshall Oil Co 98H felt good, and headed into qualifying with confidence.

"We qualified 6th, I felt that we were faster before qualifying, so we made some changes for the feature that got us back to how the kart felt and performed before qualifying."  Connor said.

Connor started the 20 lap feature 6th, and was in the mix once the green flag waved.  Passing his way up into the top 5, and he was in a give and take battle back and forth over the next few laps. The competition was strong across the Junior Restricted Class Sponsored By Chavis Motorsports.

"I think we were good at the start, we were fast and made some passes.  The kart started to go away around lap 10, when we had a caution.  My kart needed to be restarted during the caution, and I was sent back to the rear of the field for the restart.  We started to make some moves after the restart and I thought the chain had popped, but we really broke a wheel stud and I lost the right rear tire, so we were done for the day."

All in all it was a good day for the 98H team.  Racing as a family is sometimes a struggle but always worth the trials and tribulations of learning and working hard, especially at a track that has given the team a hard time in the past.

"We learned a lot on Sunday, and look forward to the next race at Selinsgrove, and it was awesome having the Jesse J Racing Team at the track with us again!

Connor will be back in action Sunday April 23rd at Selinsgrove Raceway Park for The Burris Money Series race #2.
